One perplexity for that question

 With that equation y = x² - (x - 1)²; no matters the value for the y we gonna end on that:

x² - x² + 2x - 1 = y; 2x - 1 = y; so if you asks for a y like 31 the sum of one number squared less the nest number squared would be always equal to the sum of the 2 numbers so x + (x - 1) = x² - (x - 1)²; so I even need calculation is the same number is 11 so the sum is 11, if was 307 so the sum would be 307, but of course is a rule that is excessive decorate, is just a property, but is a equation very simple.
